Dispose of your medications safely at Medication Takeback Day at the Cambridge Senior Center! The Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD), Cambridge Police Department, and Cambridge Council on Aging are hosting a Medication Takeback Event on October 28 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Think about your medicine cabinet at home. Is it full of old prescriptions you never finished? Old vitamins and over-the-counter meds that sit unused? You may be wondering how to properly dispose of these. Safe medication disposal protects your family and the environment. Rather than throwing meds in the trash or flushing them, let the city help you get rid of them!
CPHD, the Cambridge Police Department, and the Cambridge Council on Aging are coming together to host a special medication “Takeback” event at the Cambridge Senior Center, 806 Massachusetts Avenue, on Monday, October 28 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Personnel will be available on-site in the lobby to accept unwanted or unused prescriptions, over-the-counter meds, and vitamins. Sharps and liquids will NOT be accepted.
If you’re unable to make it to this event, you have several other options for safely disposing of your old medications. The police department is always able to accept anonymous medication deposits at their 125 6th Street location. The city also has free prescription mailers, envelopes designed to safely transport your medications to a disposal center. These mailers will be available at the event and are also available from CPHD.
For any questions about the event or safe medication disposal year-round, please contact Danielle McPeak, the CPHD Prevention and Recovery Specialist, at [email protected]. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe!
