Cambridge Physical Activity Assessment
Overview
The Cambridge Public Health Department, in partnership with Metropolitan Area Planning Council, is conducting a physical activity assessment to better understand how Cambridge residents engage in physical activity, and identify ways to make it more accessible. The Cambridge Physical Activity Assessment will help us answer important questions like:
- What opportunities for physical activity exist in Cambridge?
- How are people currently engaging in physical activity?
- What barriers prevent people from being physically active?
- Who is not engaging in enough physical activity, and why?
Our goal is to develop recommendations that make physical activity more accessible for everyone. We are inviting community members to participate in online surveys or in-person focus groups. Focus group participants will receive a gift card as a thank-you for their time. Your input will help us improve physical activity options and create a healthier Cambridge for all.
We are recruiting seniors, youth under 16, girls in sports, parents of young children, people with disabilities, and those from various cultural backgrounds in phases.
We need your input
We are currently looking for individuals from the following priority groups to help shape the future of physical activity opportunities in Cambridge:
- Persons with physical and/or intellectual disabilities and caregivers of persons with disabilities
- Youth under 16
By sharing your experiences, you can help us better understand the challenges and opportunities for improving physical activity in our city.
You can participate in two ways:
- Survey: Share your insights online at your convenience.
- Focus Group (with gift card compensation): Join a small group discussion and receive a gift card for your time.
If you are a resident of Cambridge interested in participating in one of these opportunities, please fill out this short three-question Google form and you will be contacted by email with more information.
Questions? Reach out to Kasey Owen by emailing [email protected].
For youth under 16, parental/guardian consent is required, and additional details will be provided during sign-up.
