Think about your medicine cabinet at home. Is it full of old prescriptions you never finished? Old vitamins and over-the-counter medications that sit unused? You may be wondering how to properly dispose of these. Safe medication disposal protects your family and the environment. Rather than throwing meds in the trash or flushing them, let the city help you get rid of them!

To recognize National Prescription Drug Takeback Day, the Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD), the Cambridge Police Department, and the Council on Aging are coming together to host a special medication “Takeback” event at the Cambridge Senior Center in Central Square, on Monday, April 24 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Personnel will be available on-site in the lobby to accept unwanted or unused prescriptions, over-the-counter meds, and vitamins. Sharps and liquids will NOT be accepted.

For any questions about the event, please contact Danielle McPeak, the CPHD Prevention and Recovery Specialist, at [email protected]
