Mini-Grants Available for Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Projects

Application Deadline: April 4, 2022

March 4, 2022

The Cambridge Public Health Department, through its Cambridge in Motion initiative, will award up to ten $1,000 mini-grants to support community projects that promote healthy eating and physical activity.

Eligible groups for mini-grants include community organizations, businesses, schools, garden and farm programs, and government agencies that serve Cambridge.

“It has been another challenging year for all of us. Yet, seeing the success of so many of our mini-grant projects last year and watching many continue to grow and evolve over time has been a source for hope and encouragement,” said Dawn Olcott, manager of public health nutrition services for the Cambridge Public Health Department.

Last year's winning projects included gardening and cooking for preschool children, backyard gardens as a source of food for families, exercise and healthy meals for youth, a series of virtual wellness classes for older adults, and camping for families. See the full list of 2021 winners.

The mini-grants are competitive. Applications are reviewed by representatives from the Cambridge Public Health Department and other city departments, the Cambridge Food and Fitness Policy Council, and the Cambridge Health Alliance. The mini-grant program, now in its eleventh year, is led and funded by the Cambridge Public Health Department.

For an application and detailed guidelines, visit the Cambridge Public Health Department website.

The deadline for submission is Monday, April 4 2022.
