The Cambridge Public Health Department, through its Cambridge in Motion initiative, will award up to ten $500 mini-grants to support community projects that promote healthy eating and physical activity in Cambridge.
Eligible groups for mini-grants include community organizations, businesses, schools, childcare programs, non-profits, garden and farm programs, and government agencies that serve Cambridge.
“We are proud of our past mini-grant awardees, many of whom started projects that have inspired more people to think creatively about engaging adults and children in healthy eating and physical activity,” said Dawn Olcott, manager of public health nutrition services for the Cambridge Public Health Department. “We’re interested in funding both new projects and the expansion of existing initiatives.”
Last year's winning projects included funding for a fruit and vegetable snack pilot for CASPAR shelter guests, equipment for indoor recess in kindergarten classes, “Carrot Day” celebrations in schools, educational programming at the Hurley Street Farm, and resources to enable the Title IX Girls Running Club to expand into the Port neighborhood. The mini-grant program, now in its ninth year, is funded by the Cambridge Public Health Department.
The application and guidelines are available on the Cambridge Public Health Department website.
The deadline for submission was Monday, March 16, 2020. It has been extended to Tuesday March 31, 2020.
