Body Art

Body art is the practice of physical body adornment, alteration or modification by tattooing, piercing, or other means.

The Cambridge Public Health Department enforces regulations governing the practice of body art in the city. The purpose of the regulations is to ensure that body art practitioners meet and maintain minimum standards of competence and conduct. The regulations also provide minimum health and safety requirements for body art establishments.

The Cambridge Public Health Department requires all body art practitioners and establishments to be licensed prior to offering their services to the public. Licenses are issued and renewed annually.

The fee for a practitioner license is $50. The fee for a body art establishment is $250.
