Epidemiology and Data Services


The department’s Division of Epidemiology and Data Services monitors the health of the city of Cambridge by tracking disease and identifying emerging health issues. The division provides epidemiological, data management, and analysis support to all Cambridge Public Health Department divisions, as well as outside groups.

Services

  • Surveillance of communicable and chronic diseases
  • Data management and analysis
  • Survey design, development, and implementation
  • Produces health surveillance reports
  • Development and design of databases
  • Geographic display of public health information using GIS technology.
  • Regional epidemiologic assistance to health departments in Emergency Preparedness Region 4b
  • Syndromic surveillance of emergency department data to detect disease outbreaks.
