About the Workshop
"Basic Bioscience for Community Reps" is a workshop designed for current and prospective Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) community representatives, community officials, internal IBC members, and biosafety staff. This training will provide an overview of basic molecular biology, infectious risk, recombinant DNA technologies, and an orientation to the IBC process itself.

The goal of the workshop is to help Community Representatives become more comfortable discussing project registrations as a member of the IBC (Institutional Biosafety Committee) and to enable scientists to appreciate the special role and perspective of the Community Representative.

The training has been organized by two experienced biological safety training firms, Safety Partners and the Eagleson Institute, and the Cambridge Public Health Department.
